Lughnasadh and Guldize 2010.

Above: Blessing the crops at the beginning of Guldize

Harvest begins. Beans, courgettes and loads of fruit have been harvested from the garden and brought into the house this evening. It is Lammas (English), Lughnasadh (Irish/Scottish) and here in Kernow the beginning of Guldize, which continues into the harvest period and culminates around the Autumn Equinox to coincide with the end of the grain harvest and the ancient Crying of the Neck ceremony.

A fantastic time of fresh new flavours from nature's larder and of the fruition of many projects and ideas. The start of the returning spiral of Autumn's mellow moods and supremely rich colours, begin to slowly creep inward, as we take stock of our continuing progress through life's twisting, crooked labyrinth.

Harvest blessings to one and all...

  1. Autumn is upon us,

    creeping in behind the winds,

    hiding in the longer shadows,

falling without a sound on leaves that flutter to the ground.

    Autumn is upon us,

brightly changing greens to red and orange strokes,

    all in shorter days,

Autumns amazing joy is on its way!

    Autumn is upon us,

    bringing in cooler breeze,

    harvest quick, before its gone,

bringing in the winters dark and nights so long.
